Advance One Launch

Tuesday 17 April 2007 marked the official launch of the SynergySoft-integrated building and health web portal which forms part of the AusIndustry Regulation Reduction Incentive Fund (RRIF) project “Advanced One”.  This project forms the foundation for offering online services directly to ratepayers and other organisations within Council boundaries.

This initial RRIF project has been pioneered by the Cities of Albany, Geraldton and Kalgoorlie-Boulder, and the Shire of Broome.

IT Vision has produced a fully integrated system that allows ratepayers and corporations to submit new building and health applications as well as health renewals online 24 hours a day.  For example, through the Advance One website:
• Applicants can lodge an application to register a new alfresco dining or food premise online
• An owner builder can lodge an application for approval to install a septic tank and to build a new pergola
• A developer can request approval to build multi-residential units or other major development

While submitting their applications online, applicants can lodge all required supporting documents e.g. plans and surveys with their application and can pay any required application or licence fees through a secure payment gateway.

After users have submitted the online application, Council can then follow their standard approval process.  During the assessment stage users can add their own or view comments that Council staff have added in relation to the application.  Once Council has assessed and decided to grant approval, the relevant licences and permits can be issued online.

The functionality provided as a result of the “Advance One” project is also ideal for Councils experiencing high levels of development as a result of subdivisions or commercial/industry growth.
