The Shire of Denmark is the first Council to take advantage of WALGA’s initiative

The Shire of Denmark has decided to replace its existing core software systems with IT Vision’s SynergySoft.

IT Vision is one of three suppliers on the Western Australian Local Government Association’s (WALGA) Preferred Supplier Panel for Small/Medium sized Councils. This panel contract enabled Council to evaluate and select the supplier that they wanted to deal with without having to go through a tender process, and ensured that they obtained a solution at lower prices than they would have otherwise been able to.

“We are keen to start the new financial year with a single fully integrated system that we can trust”, said Dean Taylor, the Deputy CEO. “The fact that SynergySoft is used by so many of the Councils in the South of WA gives us confidence and will help to facilitate resource sharing projects in the future.

Vincent Bentley, IT Vision’s Support Manager, will manage the implementation process: “The timeframes are tight but this Council has great staff who have a very positive approach to change. They have already taken the initiative to develop a new chart of account and we are very confident that we can have them up and running by July 1”.

The Shire of Denmark is the first Council to purchase software under the WALGA Panel Contract, which was finalised earlier this year, and many other Councils are likely to follow suit (with the purchase of SynergySoft) in the forthcoming months.

The Shire of Denmark is located on the south coast of Western Australia approximately 50 kms west of Albany. The Shire has a growing population (currently a little over 5000) with a wide diversity of interests and occupations. Tourism is naturally a major industry in this beautiful coastal area, but viticulture, horticulture, and other agriculture are also very important.
